GREAT NEWS!

Today the children filled the class Teddy Bear jar all the way up to the top! They will be celebrating their accomplishment on Monday, November 19th. I had the children vote on four choices--  Pajama Day, Watch a Movie, Show and Tell Day or bring a Stuffed Animal to School Day. The results of the vote ended in a tie with Watch a Movie and Show and Tell Day both receiving eights votes.  Tomorrow we will have another vote to break the tie.  STAY TUNED!!!

Yesterday we started talking about the First Thanksgiving and plans for our little feast. I was extremely impressed with how much information the children remembered from the story I read yesterday, The First Thanksgiving by Linda Hayward.

Our Choose To Be Nice program introduced us to the third mouse, Kiera the Kindness Mouse.  She spreads kindness wherever she goes.  We have also been talking about expected and unexpected
behavior.

Recess Reminder
With the cold weather and snow soon upon us, it is important that your child is properly attired for recess.  We send the students out each day unless there is harsh weather or unsafe conditions.  If you are unsure, please have our child prepared . . just in case we do go out.

This includes a hat, gloves, boots, snow pants and a warm jacket.  Everything should be labeled with your child's name.

If your child does not have boots and snow pants, s/he will need to stay on the hard top and will not be able to play in the snow.

Also, your child needs to bring a change of shoes to put on after recess.  Sometimes children wear hiking boots or work boots as snow boots -  this is fine as long as they have a dry pair of shoes/sneakers to put on when they come in from recess.  It is not a bad idea to throw an extra pair of socks into your child's backpack!

One last thing -  take a minute to review with your child how to get ready for snow play.  teaching your child the order in which to get dressed (i.e. snow pants, boots, jacket zipped, hat, gloves) would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much for your help and cooperation!
