This week we are celebrating Read Across America.
Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!  We love all of the books he wrote.

Today we said goodbye to Ms. Oliva.  She has been a student teacher in our classroom for many weeks.  She is moving on to Mrs. Paget's first-grade classroom.  They are lucky to have her.
Thank you Ms. Oliva.
We will miss you!

Happy 2020! I am writing to inform you of some exciting things happening in our classroom.  Starting next week and throughout the end of the year, your child will be assigned homework in reading.  Each child will be able to take home 2 books from our classroom lending library.  Books will go home on Wednesdays and are expected to be returned the following Monday.  Please be on the lookout for a Read at Home envelope that will be coming home next Wednesday. Information about our Read at Home program will be in the envelope with the 2 books.  Please read the information and let me know if you have any questions.

Also, we are very lucky to have a wonderful online reading program called Raz-Kids! Today I explained the program to the class. Your child is coming home with login information.  We ask that you follow the home reading "Rules" that are provided with the login information.

Finally, I am excited to share with you that starting January 21st we will be having a student teacher in our classroom until we leave for February vacation.  Her name is Miss Alyssa Oliva.  Alyssa is pursuing an initial license in Early Childhood Education PreK-2 through the undergraduate education program at Curry College. Alyssa will spend four weeks in our classroom and then move on to Mrs. Paget's first-grade class until May.  I'm sure Alyssa will enjoy her experience in our classroom with the children.

As a reminder, please look through your child's Home/School folder that comes home every day.  I often include newsletters on what we are covering in class and activities you can do at home with your child.  Talk to your child about their work and praise them on work well done.

On a final note, the children are doing a wonderful job in kindergarten and I have seen a tremendous amount of growth, both socially and academically.
